Here’s a thing: Advertising my writing services. Novel.
I mean, I have business cards, a twitter account and this blog, but I haven’t really done any actual advertising, where I pay someone to present my info through their media outlets. Part of the reason is that I don’t have much extra budget to speak of. Also, an easy opportunity has never presented itself.
Until now.
A cousin of mine is involved with a local music production, and the organization does quite a bit of advertising in their programs, on their web site and on posters and billboards. This week, my cousin called to see if I’d be interested in placing an ad. It all made me feel very grown up.
Of course, it wouldn’t be free. But I have options – anything from $35 to $7,500 will get me some form of ad space. Right now, I’m thinking somewhere in the $200 range is where I’ll land. This will buy a full year in their system.
Ideally, a couple of people will notice me out there, and help me recoup the cost of the advertisement in the next few months.
So now I’ve got my artistic half (aka husband) coming up with some sort of logo. Can’t do an add without something neat to look at.
I wish one could bullet point “Incidental Education” on a resume; there’s never an end to what must be learned in the freelance field.
